Posthumously awarded the Silver Star

1Lt Paul R. Ostrom in uniform. Date unknown. He was born in 1920 in Superior, Wisconsin and was killed on December 23, 1944 in combat during the Battle of the Bulge. His body and those of fellow crewmen Capt. Wilbur C. Cox, 2Lt Daniel P. Winegar, T/Sgt Ira L. Mooney and T/Sgt Salvatore A Visi were recovered in 1949 and buried in a single grave at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery plot #79 0 507 on September 30, 1949. The 6th crewman S/Sgt Charles J. Bohm parachuted from the crippled and flaming B26 into enemy territory and was taken POW until the end of the war in April 1945.
